This venue is primarily intended for nice evening events. It certainly is a gourmet restaurant that just so happens to be entirely vegan.

Grindcore House
This all-vegan coffeehouse is geared towards those with a grittier side. They serve amazing house made vegan cream cheese on bagels as well a number of sandwiches and satisfying main course items. It’s not in the most easily accessed area of the city, but it is definitely worth the trip.

Miss Rachel’s Pantry
Serving home-style food with a country-style ambiance deep in an urban South Philadelphia, Miss Rachel’s Pantry is a foodie destination spot for South Philadelphia. Dig into an entirely vegan menu featuring items like a decadent maple-walnut french toast casserole for a breakfast indulgence, or for dinner grab The Barb, a seitan BBQ sandwich with cool slaw and lettuce on a locally-made roll or in a wrap.

Pure Fare (which has a storefront in Center City at on 21st St between Walnut and Sansom) also has a Food truck on Penn’s campus. They sell organic and local food with plenty of vegan options.

The food truck only stays open during the lunchtime hours, so don’t stop by too late.

Pure Fare specializes in providing local and organic food. They serve meat and dairy products; however they have a wide-range of entrees and baked goods that are vegan. Simply ask the attendant about their vegan items if you have difficulty locating them.

We (very strongly) recommend trying their vegan soft-serv. Depending on the day, it will be made from a base of almond, coconut, or rice milk.

American Sardine Bar
Normally, the Penn Vegan Society recommends a food establishment only if there is a variety of great vegan foods offered, but the American Sardine Bar is a one-hit wonder. The vegan Pambazo is such a blockbuster that it got in the Philadelphia City Paper its own article titled “EAT THIS IMMEDIATELY.”

Here is a sample of what eating the Pambazo is like: “[the pambazo bread]… is soaked in a guajillo pepper sauce and crisped up on the flat top before it’s stuffed full of… refried beans, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, portobello mushrooms, and potatoes and onions spiced up with jalapenos. Then, this bad boy is smothered in an avalanche of Mexican condiments: [vegan chipotle mayo], roasted salsa verde, and guacamole sauce.”

    greenline cafe has a location on i think the 3600 block of lancaster and on baltimore ave at 43rd. both have good vegan selections. you have the one mapped on locust but please add the other 2.
